Meeting of the AMDL Board of Directors
Rabat, on July 17, 2019, a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Moroccan Agency for Logistics Development – AMDL was held at the seat of the ministry. This meeting was dedicated to the approval of the agency’s achievements and accounts for the 2018 financial year as well as the presentation of its activities during the first half of 2019.
This Board session was an opportunity to review the Agency’s undertaken actions during 2018 and the first half of 2019 aimed at consolidating the achievements and making a real contribution to the logistics development of our country through the mobilization and coordination of the participation of different stakeholders in the implementation of the national logistics strategy.
For this purpose, and as part of the logistics chains improvement relating to internal distribution, building materials and import / export, the Agency proceeded during 2018 and the first half of the year 2019 to the activation of different working groups from several government departments in order to accelerate the implementation of the action plans, decided in cooperation with the private sector, while ensuring real convergence between the different projects and programmed sites.
On the other hand, and in order to mobilize the necessary land base for the integrated national master plan for logistics areas implementation and thus secure the logistics future of the different regions of the Kingdom, the AMDL approached the concerned regions for the integration of logistics zone projects in their regional development plans and the identification of priority logistics projects likely to strengthen the economic competitiveness of these regions. In this context, the Agency participated in various meetings and coordination initiatives relating to regional planning with a view to including logistics zone projects in urban planning documents and making great progress in procedures securing the land necessary for their development in certain regions.
Otherwise, the Agency is continuing to activate several initiatives aimed at supporting actors in the sector to improve their logistics performance, in particular by accelerating the deployment of the PME-Logis program, which provides technical and financial support and assistance for SMEs.
Since the launch of this program, more than 130 companies have benefited from this assistance in the fields of diagnostic of the logistics function, logistics outsourcing, development of logistics information systems as well as training in logistics professions.
With regard to skills development, the Agency has developed a set of tools for planning and managing training in the logistics sector in Morocco, which has enabled the classification of the professions of logistics in Morocco, the development of Job / work / Skills Reference sheets and the provision of HR guides allowing professionals to optimize the recruitment, training and management of their logistics human resources.
In addition, the Agency has also worked to strengthen Morocco’s international and regional influence in the logistics sector. This influence has helped to win the confidence of the European Logistics Association – ELA – for the establishment in Morocco of a logistics skills certification center adopting a world-renowned benchmark.
